Model Railroader is the magazine to subscribe to if you want a source source for useful information on model railroading. I've just finished the 75th anniversary issue of Model Railroader. Another excellent issue. Model Railroader is the once - and still - leader in the model railroading journalism field. There are other magazines which cater to a particular niche in this already small interest area that may do a better job in their specialized areas of interest - but for the best overall coverage, for leadership, for vision, for service to model railroading - Model Railroader stands alone.

Model Railroader offers the best photos, well-written articles, leading edge ideas and techniques. And they do this all for about the same price as the other magazines in the field.

Model Railroader is the Original and still Favorite Magazine for Model Railroaders in the Americas
Model Railroader has been criticized for years for 'light' model railroading, concentrating on new modelers instead of appealing to the old pros. I really think they are doing what they need to do to appeal to the most modelers possible. They have articles on scratch building or kitbashing nearly every issue, great articles on many different topics applicable to most modelers and of course they do the full color 'layout tour' better than anyone!

The other magazines of course are excellent in their own ways but if you are new to the hobby or like step by step projects with lots of photos and illustrations or like to look at the great photography of model railroads this is the place to go. It is truly astounding how many great model railroads there have been in this magazine over the years.

My only criticisms are nearly exclusive HO scale coverage, which is understandable but still frustrating (I am an O scaler myself), and the demise of the old 'dollar model' or...

This is, indeed, a wonderful magazine. I have bought it off the news stand a number of times. I am about to subscribe to it but I see that I can actually get 6 issues for 26.95, which is a better deal than amazon.

Great Magazine for Jewelery Making

I love this magazine and so will you if you want step-by-step instructions using modern methods of making Jewelry. There are always pictures of items in the gallery as well as how-to articles, and the best thing is that many of the articles utilize Metal Clay. If you haven't heard about metal clay, buy a least one issue of this magazine to see how it works. The format of the magazine is very good--pages lie flat for consulting while you try out one of he designs, for one thing. There is always a list of tools and materials needed, and pictures of the process from beginning to completion. Check it out.

Great magazine, bad subscription policy

I subscribed to this magazine for digital download and paid for over 6 months. The problem is that when you cancel the subscription, you lose access to past issues too. That was not made clear in the terms and I will never do another subscription. It was so convenient being able to take my Kindle into my craft room.

Great Toy Trains Magazine

If you love toy trains, then this is for you. I enjoy this magaine very much. But I have two complaints. First is the price of the subscription. To me it is over priced. But the publisher is over priced on all their magazines. Problem is they are good magazines, so you end up paying it, sometimes. There are times I just can't afford it. I will say their are other sellers of this magazine that have a much better price. But it is still salty in todays market. he other complaint is it is only 9 issues. I don't normally do reviews, but I saw no one had done one for this magaine and felt I had to do it. Got to stick up for those who support our O gauge toy trains. I do have HO trains as well and do get Model Railroader as well, when I can afford it.This magazine is better than Model Railroader in my opinion. My wife yells at me all the time about all the magazines I have around. But I don't want to get rid of them.

Classic toy trains is the best Hi Rail O Gauge magazine. When I saw it was available for Kindle, I decided to give it a try. At first I couldn't read the print on the 7" screen of the kindle, then I discovered you can switch to print and pictures only. You can even enlarge the pictures. It would be a 10 if you could download it to PC....

Great magazine for Lionel fans

I still remember the Christmas when I was seven years old and got my first Lionel set. This was the beginning of a lifelong love affair with trains in general and toy trains in particular. For some reason, many decades later, I still enjoy "O" gauge trains going around a layout more than I do HO or N gauge. Not surprisingly, I find Classic Toy Trains to be a most fascinating magazine. Not only are there articles on the Lionel trains of our youth (as well as other manufacturers), but there's plenty of how-to articles on creating scenery, layouts, and the like. Plus, this is a really nicely done magazine, with plenty of color photos. This is a magazine that anyone with a serious interest in toy trains should read.

This is a wonderful magazine with a variety of projects, from seed bead work to simple stringing. Simple directions help ease the process of creation, and a glossary is available for true beginners. I find a project that grabs me immediately in each issue, and often look through past months for inspiration.

Amazon not competitive!

Great magazine, but the one-year subscription (six issues) is much cheaper if purchased directly from the Publisher. Sorry, Amazon, you need to update your pricing on this one!

best beading magazine around

I have been a subscriber for many years. This is my favorite beading magazine. I do not enjoy stringing, so the easier bead stringing magazines do not appeal to me. However, Bead & Button has such a variety of projects and techniques, that it will appeal to most everyone. As an advanced seed bead technique lover, I find so much inspiration in this magazine. Typically I find 4 - 7 projects per issue that I MUST try out. They have a reader's gallery where you can send in photos of your work. Excellent directions that are easy to follow, even for the most complicated pieces. Great magazine. Highest recommendation. I save all my copies and return to them frequently.
